The building in Highfield on the approach to Southampton’s Inner Avenue, features an imposing architectural style with lime green elevations and turrets at the corners. Matching this, locally based fabricator, Discount Window Centres Limited supplied Orchard Homes with more than 30 tilt and turn units finished using Avkote LE in Duck Egg Blue.
Mr Wayne Thatcher, Factory Manager for Discount Windows, comments: ““Based in Woolston near Southampton, we cover a large area of the south coast from the Isle of Wight up to Oxford and west into Somerset. While we quite frequently get inquiries from customers about the availability of coloured frames, the choice of the bright blue/green colour on this job makes it stand out in our minds as well as on the streetscape.
“The colour really looks distinctive and once you see it in context, especially framed within the steelwork of the turrets, it looks really effective.”
Discount Windows sent long lengths of the Selecta 8000, white PVC-U profiles away to the premises of Advanced Coatings – one of AVKO Limited’s applicators, to be overcoated. Essentially Avkote LE is a spray applied polyurethane/acrylic paint system which is dry enough to handle within a few minutes.
After 24 hours it has cured completely to form an extremely tough and weather resistant finish that, as the Orchard Homes project emphasis, can be specified in a full selection of RAL colours.
