AVKO is proud to bring you an interview with their latest dare devil and adrenaline junkie: Diane Carter. She bravely undertook a 10 thousand feet sky dive to support The Dave Wellman Cancer Trust. I had a little chat with Di about her adventure and got to ask her about what motivated her to jump and her experience up in the clouds!

“I have learnt that we can achieve anything we want in life, if we are determined enough to try it and go for it! I don’t think I’ll doubt myself again”

What department do you work in at AVKO and what do you do?

I am the Colour Analyst at AVKO. I make sure the colours are correct when they go out the door to our customers all over the UK and Ireland. I work closely with the workshop to produce our orders every day.

What motivated you to do a skydive for the Dave Wellman Cancer Trust?

Cancer has affected so many of my lovely friends this year, I wanted to do something for them and everyone else who has been touched by cancer. The Dave Wellman Cancer Trust is a charity that is close to my heart. Tina:  who is a close friend of mine and founder of the Charity asked me if I wanted to get involved,  and I jumped at the chance!

Do you think you’ll ever do it again? Any future plans?

It was the most petrifying thing I’ve ever done! I was so scared before I jumped but the feeling of achievement afterwards was amazing, and I knew I’d conquered my fear. I would have never have chosen to do it without so much encouragement and motivation. I kept in my mind all the time: my friends and loved ones who have been affected by cancer…. It turns out, I’m planning my second jump in July 2017! I’m going for 15 thousand feet this time!

How much money have you raised for the Charity?Di small

I’m so grateful to everyone who donated! I raised £550.00.

What do the other members of the AVKO team think of your dive?

They were so surprised when I told them what I was planning as it’s not the sort of thing I would do! They were all very supportive and proud of me.

Have you learnt anything from your experience? What will you be taking with you?

I have learnt that we can achieve anything we want in life, if we are determined enough to try it and go for it! I don’t think I’ll doubt myself again.
